Taking inspiration from nature, six new effects and instruments have been created by Dillon Bastan for Live 11, using natural and physical processes as the source of inspiration. Grow different patterns inspired by plants and life to use as resonators that can be used internally to generate noise and audio.
The Arrangement view has been hugely improved allowing you to compose tracks with more efficiency than ever; brand new audio processing tools can be accessed directly from the Arrangement view so you can time-stretch, move samples, create fades and even reverse audio using the new clip interaction controls without the need to use a sampler. The addition of quick keyboard shortcuts means you can quickly zoom in/out, nudge clips, make audio edits and access the automation view directly from your fingertips resulting in a more fluid workflow. Automating your effect is now easier than ever before thanks to the dedicated Automation view and offers even more precise editing thanks to the grid-snapping function as well as other improved breakpoint controls.
Ableton Live 11 now comes with an impressive, brand new Capture function. This allows you to turn your spontaneous ideas into music without the need to press record. Once a MIDI track is armed and you have played a musical phrase, pressing the Capture button will match your timing and instantly recall your melody or groove in a perfect loop. This state-of-the-art feature also allows you to add new grooves and melodies or overdub MIDI notes into existing clips without killing your workflow, all you need to do is hit Capture after you’ve played and Ableton 11 will automatically recall your new melodies. Furthermore, you also now have the ability to edit multiple MIDI clips simultaneously, so you can now compose chords and melodies in perfect harmony without continually needing to switch between various MIDI clips. You can now create sophisticated harmonic content and add subtle nuances to your music by editing multiple MIDI clips across numerous channels.

Use your MPE-capable controller
Customise separate notes within a chord using an MPE-capable controller, add blends, slides and pressure where it needs to be. Control individual parameters of every note on the go to create expressive instrumental performances.
Hybrid Reverb
Combine algorithmic and convolution reverbs to produce a Hybrid reverb in Live 11. Create any space for your sound, from accurate environments in real-life to ones that defy reality.
Spectral Resonator
The spectral resonator breaks down incoming audio signals into separate pieces that can be morphed, stretched or blurred by a frequency or note to add a subtle or radical feel to the end product.
PitchLoop89
Inspired by retro digital effects PitchLoop89 allows you to create cool glitch effects, wild vibratos and delayed shimmers with this pitch shifting device.
Tempo Following
Ableton Live can react and adjust itself based on the incoming tempo of audio in real time, becoming an integral part of the band and production. It helps keep everyone in sync. Additionally, this feature can be utilised as a tempo-synced FX box.
Macro Snapshots
Save your most used Macros for easy access, create instant variations to your sound, or use them to create build ups or drops during a performance.
Note Chance
Change the frequency that a note or drum hit will occur. Note chance allows you to adjust the probability that variations will occur and patterns will eventually change over time.
Ableton Live 11.1 has Arrived
From the 1st February 2022, existing Ableton Users will be able to update their Live 11 software to version 11.1. The update brings with it useful new and improved features.
The new features include native support for Apple computers running on the M1 Silicon chip, two new Max for Live utilities and the addition of Align Delay and MIDI Shaper. Align Delay provides compensation for lag when signals are sent throughout the system, and MIDI Shaper brings more expression to performances by generating modulation data.
Several improvements have been made, including comping, updates to Clip handling, a revamped Frequency Shifter device and more. The Shifter device allows for a new mode to be added in the form of a real-time monophonic pitch shifter along with an LFO, delay, an envelope section and glide functionality.
Users of Ableton Live 11 will have access to the new update from the 1st February 2022.
