Building on feedback from previous versions, improvements have been made to the Arrangement view in Live - allowing to now compose tracks more efficiency than before. New audio processing features can be directly accessed from the Arrangement view, allowing you to move samples, create fades and even reverse audio using the new clip interaction controls. Functional keyboard shortcuts will enable you to zoom in/out quickly, nudge clips, or make quick audio edits.
Ableton Live 11 has the impressive Capture function, which allows you to turn your imagination into music without worrying about recording units or software! The capture button can recognise when audio is played to match crucial timings. The state-of-the-art feature also allows you to add grooves and melodies into existing clips. Create the perfect take
Live 11 can identify multiple audio passes and MIDI into separate audio recordings. Meaning you can create the perfect music piece using multiple takes spliced together, make new tracks or edit old ones into something unique.
Use your MPE-capable controller
Use your MPE-capable controller to add blends, slides and pressure to where it needs to be. This feature allows MPE devices to control over parameters of individual notes in real-time.
Hybrid Reverb
Hybrid reverbs are used to place your sound in any environment or space. Accurate real-life settings or unimaginable spaces beyond belief. Control and modulate the reverb tail for added effect, run it in conjunction with the convolution side, or play it as an instrument for real-time sound design.
Spectral Resonator
The Spectral resonator breaks down the spectrum of incoming audio signals into separate partials, which can then be morphed, stretched or blurred by a single note or frequency in radical or subtle ways depending on what sounds good.
PitchLoop89
PitchLoop89 is an intuitive device used to adjust the pitch of a sound. Made in collaboration with Robert Henke, this unit is inspired by early versions of digital effect units. Create wild glitch effects, dynamic vibratos and delayed shimmers.
Tempo Following
Tempo following software allows Live to become a crucial part of your production and sound. Keep everyone in time with this feature, adjusting itself in real-time instead of using a tempo source that everyone has to follow. This can also be used as a tempo-synced FX box.
Macro Snapshots
Save your favourite Macros for later use to create instant variations of your sound.
Note Chance
Note chance allows you to adjust the probability that a note or drum hit will occur and let Live generate surprising variations to your patterns that change over time.
Ableton Live 11.1 has Arrived
From the 1st February 2022, existing Ableton Users will be able to update their Live 11 software to version 11.1. The update brings with it useful new and improved features.
The new features include native support for Apple computers running on the M1 Silicon chip, two new Max for Live utilities and the addition of Align Delay and MIDI Shaper. Align Delay provides compensation for lag when signals are sent throughout the system, and MIDI Shaper brings more expression to performances by generating modulation data.
Several improvements have been made, including comping, updates to Clip handling, a revamped Frequency Shifter device and more. The Shifter device allows for a new mode to be added in the form of a real-time monophonic pitch shifter along with an LFO, delay, an envelope section and glide functionality.
Users of Ableton Live 11 will have access to the new update from the 1st February 2022.
